We are happy to have joined the Open:Factset community with two alternative datasets based on natural language processing:
The Brain Sentiment Indicator (BSI) uses proprietary Natural Language Processing strategies to monitor public financial news for over 7,000 global stocks from more than 2,000 financial media sources. Each stock is assigned a sentiment score ranging from -1 (most negative) to +1 (most positive). Indicators are updated daily and correspond to the average of sentiment for each news article on three time scales; last day, last 7 days and last 30 days.
The Brain Market Sentiment (BMS) gives a score on the general mood of the market by automatically selecting and analyzing thousands of news articles every few minutes from the most popular financial media. The news coverage is global but with a larger focus on US markets.
We will keep the community posted with use cases and applications based on these two datasets.
